Practical advice for Accra deliveries
Plan around traffic. The Tema Motorway, Spintex Road and the routes into central Accra are slow at peak times. A container that leaves Tema early in the morning or in the evening usually reaches Accra far faster than one leaving mid-morning. Journey times vary a lot with traffic, rain and road works, so we agree a delivery window with you rather than a fixed hour.
Busy markets need a plan. Lanes around Makola, Kaneshie and Abossey Okai are often too narrow or crowded for a 40ft truck. Options include delivering early before trading peaks, unloading at a nearby open space, or stripping the container at Tema and sending the goods in smaller trucks. Tell us the exact address and access when you book.
Have people ready to unload. A container waiting outside your shop for labour costs time, and the shipping line's clock is still running.
Getting containers out of Tema quickly
Two clocks start when your container is discharged at Tema: port storage, which stops at gate-out, and shipping line demurrage or detention, which runs until the empty container is returned. For Accra importers the return trip matters, because the empty usually goes back to a depot in or near Tema.
