In short
- We arrange the movement of your goods as your agent, using carriers, terminals and other providers who have their own terms.
- You must give us accurate information about your goods and declare anything dangerous or restricted.
- Cargo insurance is not included unless you ask us to arrange it in writing.
- Invoices are payable within 14 days. Duties and disbursements we pay for you are passed on at cost.
What these conditions cover
These conditions apply to all services we provide, including ocean and air freight forwarding, customs brokerage, consolidation, warehousing, haulage, transit and logistics consultancy, whether we quote in writing, by email, by WhatsApp or by phone.
How we act for you
In most cases we act as your agent: we contract with shipping lines, airlines, terminal operators, hauliers and warehouses on your behalf. Those providers carry, handle and store goods under their own terms, which may limit their liability. Where we carry or store goods ourselves, we act as principal for that part of the service.
Your responsibilities
- Give us complete and accurate descriptions, weights, values and tariff information for your goods.
- Declare dangerous, restricted, perishable or high-value goods before booking.
- Package and mark goods so they can withstand normal handling and transport.
- Provide the documents and permits needed for customs clearance on time. See customs & trade compliance.
- Pay duties, taxes, levies and charges assessed by the authorities, including any reassessment.
Quotations and charges
Quotations are based on the information you give us and on rates at the time of quoting. They may change if the goods, route, carrier rates, exchange rates or official charges change, or if the cargo is delayed, inspected or held. Demurrage, detention and storage charges arising from delays outside our control are payable by you.
Payment
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date. Duties and disbursements we pay to GRA and third parties on your behalf are invoiced at cost, are not subject to VAT, and may need to be paid before we can release goods. We may hold goods and documents until outstanding amounts are paid (a lien).
Insurance
Carrier and agent liability is limited and is not a substitute for cargo insurance. We arrange cargo insurance only when you instruct us in writing and agree the insured value. Otherwise, your goods travel uninsured by us.
Our liability
Our liability for loss of or damage to goods, and for delay, is limited as set out in the full Standard Trading Conditions. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of profit or market. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them to be limited.
Liability limits per kilogram and per consignment: to be confirmed
Claims
Check goods on delivery and note any visible loss or damage on the delivery document. Claims must be notified to us in writing within to be confirmed of delivery, or of the date the goods should have been delivered. Carriers impose their own strict time limits, so tell us as early as possible.
Governing law
These conditions are governed by the laws of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction over any dispute.
